Green Room plays on the term used in theatre to describe the space of transition used by actors to rest in-between performances. These works combine images of landscape with modern and historical objects in an effort to dismantle traditions of European painting that ‘stage’ landscape imagery through notions of the picturesque, deception or grandeur.

Instead these works explore ideas about place in the Australian landscape, focussing on the contradictions and ambiguities hidden within these traditions, representing tensions between environments and their meaning to question the evolving relationships we have with the environments we inhabit.
